Performative vocal installation (responsive video&sound system)

CONCEPT

Flag of Voices constructs a virtual flag over time through the vocal contributions of participants, transforming the individual voice into a dynamic collective matter. The installation operates as a relational system in which sound becomes both an activating agent and a medium of aggregation, generating an emergent audio-visual form.

The work unfolds within a disused postindustrial environment, understood as a residual techno-ecological system—an ecosystem of abandoned infrastructures, latent energies, and suspended functions. Formerly embedded in regimes of production, these technological structures are recontextualized as perceptual interfaces, where human presence and machinic processes intersect. Within this framework, the voice acts as a regenerative force, reactivating dormant circuits and reintroducing collective agency into inert technological matter.

The work reinterprets the memory of the revolution not as historical representation, but as a living process of reactivation through participation. The voices of the viewers are captured, processed, and recombined into a continuous flow, evoking the collective energy of the crowd as a plurality of intensities negotiating a shared space.

In this context, the flag functions as a fluid interface between bodies, technology, and memory. It becomes a projection surface for a distributed corporeality, in which each vocal intervention contributes to the formation of an unstable collective entity in constant transformation. The space itself shifts from a condition of opacity to one of relational visibility, gradually “illuminated” by the accumulation of voices.

The installation thus proposes a reflection on how individual voices can generate shared structures capable of contesting dominant systems, reconfiguring the idea of revolution as an ongoing process—from a singular historical event to a continuum of collective becomings activated in the present.
